As a Night Nanny

You care for baby, and help mom when she needs it. Most moms pump or feed in their room and we grab baby or bottles when they are done. We recently have had the pleasure of working with a momma that hangs out while we feed baby and she pumps. The struggles and misconstrued information she was given was a bit surprising to us. We felt her pain. As Doula’s and NBCS (Newborn Care Specialist) we are required to take a breast-feeding course. Now, this is different from a lactation class. We know the basics and continue our education with experience. I actually considered myself, pretty knowledgeable in the breastfeeding area, not an expert but I can usually help a mom one way or another.

News flash

I was unable to help this momma with my once useful tips and encouragement. She also had two lactation specialist, so I figured my 5 tips were not to be compared to these two raving reviewed experts. Still she was struggling. With everything against her to make it to a Momma ‘Hood breastfeeding class, she made it. She walked in to find 20 moms successfully breastfeeding. With tears in her eyes, she explained she might be in the wrong class. The very sweet and knowledgeable teacher Amanda, reassured her she was not. She welcomed her with open arms and had her stick around for another class and extra tips to make sure My Momma was taken care of.

Light at the end of the tunnel

My very sweet Momma was given lots of powerful advice and tips, explanations, and walked away with breastfeeding twice that day in The Momma ‘Hood. She has a new energy and positive outlook on the breastfeeding adventure. She was about to give up hope, but then she met Amanda. So Amanda, THANK YOU! Thank you for your knowledge, and support. You have helped a Mom and an Agency see the light at the end of the tunnel. We now know every lactation expert has a ton of information, sometimes you need to meet the expert with the right information for your individual needs. To all The Momma’s out there, you are doing amazing! Keep your head up, and if you’re struggling, chat with someone at Momma Hood. They are a great resource.

Thank you Momma ‘Hood for helping make life a bit easier when we go through birth, struggles and triumphs. You are an amazing community for families in the Denver Metro area.
